Friends Without Borders is a student-led club dedicated to fundraising for children living below the poverty line in other countries. Through bake sales, community oriented fundraisers & grant applications, members work together to provide direct support and supplies to those in need. FWB rallies Berkeley High School students from all grades once a week during lunch to discuss and improve our club's methods of outreach: fostering community and collaboration to inspire youth to create positive change. Our main project for the 2025-2026 year is to sponsor a bilingual learning middle school in Colombia while continuing to sponsor children through the charity Children.org.

Our mission is to empower African American students to excel academically, develop leadership skills, and explore careers in STEM fields. The chapter provides students with exposure to engineering and technology through hands-on experiences, field trips, internships, and professional networking opportunities. Our primary projects include regular STEM meetings, organizing guest panel discussions, attending STEM-related field trips, and participating in regional and national NSBE leadership conferences. These initiatives foster an inclusive environment where students are motivated to pursue STEM education and careers, positively impacting our school and the broader community.

BioEHSC™ is an internationally open annual team research and design competition hosted by the UC Berkeley Bioengineering Honor Society. Approximately 50 teams participate. Last year we sent two teams to the competition. One of which placed 1st in the BioEngineering section for designing an alternative method for micro/nanoplastic detection in water samples by genetically engineering E. coli to produce bioluminescence in the presence of polystyrene. Our biosensor solved limitations of current mechanical methods including cost, accuracy, size of particles, and ease of procedure. We also placed 2nd for our Video Abstract (both sections), and won two smaller awards. Along with trophies, we won a large assortment of helpful supplies for our school’s biology department.

First year, self coached team & SCA Ethics Bowl champions. We have an overall team of about 8 people who compete in a multitude of ethics bowls throughout the year. We compete in the National High School Ethics Bowl, an Ethics Bowl centered in Archaeology against professionals in the field and recently competed (and got first in America!) in the TKE International Ethics Bowl. Through these competitions, we practice and learn critical thinking skills, learn ethics, analyze our own values, and engage in respectful discussion to further our perspectives. We plan on competing in the TKE AI Ethics Bowl as well this year!

At Sprouting STEMs, we aim to inspire a love of STEM in the younger generation through fun, hands on experiments at washington elementary (twice a week as an aftercare program). We run experiments covering a variety of subjects, each requiring a variety of materials, and then explain the science at the end in order to ingrain an appreciation and love for STEM in the students.

Students going on bike riding adventures throughout the Bay Area.

Supporting the academic, emotional, social & political well being of students of the Black diaspora at Berkeley High School.

Teach students the joy of bikepacking! We help people plan and finance trips. People carry gear on their bikes and cycle between 20 and as far as 60 miles to camp. Our mission is to build a community around biking and camping where everyone feels welcome and involved. We want the most people possible to be able to experience this activity.

The mission of our club is to foster friendship and inclusion between neuro-typical and neuro-divergent students. Best Buddies aims to create a supportive and diverse environment: breaking social norms regarding division and celebrating diversity through a defined local lens. A project we look forward to achieving this year is hosting several pizza parties during the club. This activity would slightly deviate from the usual club agenda and act as an opportunity to not only recruit new members, but also continue to build upon the sense of solidarity that Best Buddies promotes.
