At Berkeley High, the Development Group is the main fundraising body. However, the PTSA relies upon memberships to fund this newsletter, the etree, and to pay for insurance covering parent activities at Berkeley High. The regular PTSA membership envelope was not included in last summer's mailing and, as a result, many of you who would normally join the PTSA did not. But we need you! In the last newsletter we included membership envelopes for several zip codes. We are planning to send out the envelopes in this issue to the remaining zip codes. If you do not receive an envelope in either mailing, please take a moment to send a check to: PTSA, Berkeley High School, 1980 Allston Way, Berkeley, CA 94704. Your contribution is needed to pay for communication at Berkeley High.

SPRING CONCERTS OF THE JAZZ BANDS
BHS Jazz will be playing in and around Berkeley this spring after winning first place at the Folsom Jazz Festival in January. The local shows are an excellent opportunity to enjoy some great jazz and hear what they will be playing at the Monterey Youth Jazz Festival on April 21 & 22!
Closer to home, you can see these awesome musicians play the following schedule:
Monthly performances: The ensemble combos are at Anna's Jazz Island on the second Wednesday of the month. Anna's is located at 2120 Allston Way. These are evening shows are on March 8, April 12, May 10, and June 14. Shows begin at 8:00 PM and are for all ages -- $5 cover.
Spring Concerts:
March 17 for the Ensemble and Combos at the Little Theatre, 7:30 PM. Come with an appetite for the parents are selling food to support the Jazz program.
Lab Band and Combos can be seen at the Little Theatre on April 7, also at 7:30 PM. Students and teachers are allowed free to the Little Theatre concerts.
