BHS ATHLETICS

Scholar Athletes: Our Fall and Winter athletes rock when it comes to academics. There were 304 Fall athletes and 194 had a 3.0 GPA or better. Of the 201 Winter athletes, 107 had a 3.0 or better. These students qualify for the NCS Scholar Athlete recognition.

The Winter season has come to a close: The girls basketball team placed 2nd in league and will advance to North Coast Sections. The girls' soccer team took 1st place in league and lost in the first round of the NCS AAA playoff game against College Park. 10 BHS wrestlers competed in the BSAL Championship Tournament. Berkeley placed 4th in team points. 6 wrestlers placed in the top 3 and qualified to compete in the Boys' NCS championships.

Celebrity Waiter Luncheon: Tuesday March 14, 2006. Don't miss out on the action packed Celebrity Waiter Luncheon and Silent Auction at Hs. Lordships. Our waiters include Al Attles, Warriors VP; Randy Duck, Cal Basketball; John Lambert, NBA; and Peter Wright, Cal Tennis. The silent auction features airline tickets, sailing trips, artworks and sports memoribilia. There is still time to get tickets -- just contact Mary Kay Murlas at 510-866-9050 or murlas@sbcglobal.net. Details at www.berkeleyathleticfund.org.

Ways to support Berkeley High Athletics:

- Weekend parking lot, Milvia/Bancroft -- staffed by athletes and parents. All proceeds go directly to support our teams.
- Sign up for eScrip through the BHS Development Group. 25% of the proceeds are given to the Athletic Fund: This costs you nothing -- the stores donate to BHS if you register. All the money you spend at Safeway, Pak 'n Save or Andronico's could help BHS. See article on BHSDG Update for details. For more info in eScrip, or if you'd like someone to do this for you, call Patty Kates at 841-1322
